When planning a Disney World vacation, every expense adds up quickly, so deciding whether or not something is worth the cost is key. Trust me, I’m always looking for ways to save for my family of 8’s Disney vacations. One of the common add-ons at Disney resorts is the Disney resort refillable mug, and if you’re wondering whether it’s worth the price, I’m here to share my experience and thoughts!
The Disney resort refillable mug is a plastic cup (with a lid) available for purchase at Disney World resorts. It costs $22.99 plus tax and is valid for the duration of your stay, up to 14 days. The mug allows unlimited refills of soda, coffee, tea, and select beverages, but there’s a catch—you can only refill them at Disney resorts, not in the theme parks. However, you can refill them at any resort, not just the one you are staying at, which is great if you plan to resort-hop or have dining reservations elsewhere.
Another important detail: If you’re doing a split stay at multiple Disney resorts, you can still use the mug throughout your stay!
As a family of eight, we decided to purchase two mugs rather than one for each person. Here’s how we made it work:
Because we made sure to use the mugs regularly, they were worth the cost for us!
While the Disney resort refillable mug worked well for our family, it might not work for everyone. Here are a few things to think about before deciding:
If you’re planning to rope drop and stay in the parks all day, then you won’t get much use out of the mug. Since it’s only refillable at the resorts, it’s best for families who will be returning for breaks or spending some time at their hotel.
If your room is far from the resort’s quick service or beverage stations, you may not want to make the extra trek every time you need a refill. Some resorts, like Caribbean Beach or Saratoga Springs, are more spread out, while others, like Pop Century or Wilderness Lodge, are more compact and make refilling easier.
Instead of buying one mug per person, consider sharing a couple of mugs among the family. We managed fine with just two, and it saved us money while still allowing us to enjoy the drinks we wanted.
If you’re staying at Disney World for more than a couple of days and plan to spend time at your resort and regularly drink soda, Gatorade, or coffee, then the Disney resort refillable mug is absolutely worth considering. We personally loved having it, and it helped us cut down on extra drink purchases. Plus, the convenience of refilling it at any resort added extra value to our experience.
Would I get one again? Absolutely—but only when I know we’ll be using it!
Have you ever used the Disney resort refillable mug on your trip? Let me know your thoughts!
