Before we went to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, I’ll admit—I thought it was overpriced. I couldn’t imagine paying that much for a sparkly bun and a few minutes of glitter. But after seeing my youngest three girls and my son absolutely light up during the experience, I totally get it now.
This is not just about hair and makeup. It’s about stepping into a story. It’s about feeling seen and celebrated and magical in a way only Disney can pull off. And yes, it can be expensive—but there are ways to save without sacrificing the experience.
If you’re considering Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for your trip, here’s everything you need to know: what to expect, how to save money, and why this makeover moment isn’t just for princesses—it’s for knights, too.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a Disney makeover experience for kids ages 3 to 12, where Fairy Godmothers-in-Training help transform your little ones into princesses or knights. There are two main locations—Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park in California. (Note: the Disney Springs location is currently closed.)
The makeover includes:
There’s also a photographer capturing it all via PhotoPass. It’s very extra in the best way.
This is not a walk-up experience—you’ll want to book it in advance. At times there is some availability for walk-ups. However, if Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a priority for your family, pre-book your experience.
Reservations open 60 days before your visit, and they go FAST. I booked ours right at midnight on the day our window opened, and I highly recommend setting an alarm.
Important notes:
Starting early also gave my kids the full day to enjoy their makeover looks (and trust me, they loved the attention from cast members and characters).
We had four kids participate—our three youngest girls and our son. When we arrived, they asked each child if they wanted to be a Princess or Queen, or a Knight or Dragon Slayer (adorable touch, by the way).
Next, we were escorted into a room filled with shimmering dresses, tiaras, and accessories. It’s a lot—Disney definitely leans into the “go big” approach—but it’s exciting.
You get to:
Then comes the best part—the magical mirror moment where your child “transforms” in the mirror and meets their stylist for hair, makeup, and nails.
The whole process was well-paced, sweet, and full of thoughtful details. PhotoPass photographers were everywhere, capturing each smile, spin, and shimmer.
If you’re wondering whether Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is just for girls, the answer is 100% no. Boys are not only welcome—they’re made to feel just as special.
At the time we went, there were three costume options for boys:
We chose the knight costume for our son’s birthday, and it came with a full outfit, shield, and sword. He got his hair styled with pixie dust and held court with his sisters like it was no big deal. Honestly? He loved it—and so did we.
Let’s talk money, because this experience can add up fast. Here’s how we made it magical without breaking the budget:
At the time of our visit, the base princess package was $99 + tax, and included hair, makeup, a sash, a bag with keepsakes, and a t-shirt.
Instead of buying the Disney boutique dresses, I bought dresses I knew my girls would love and wear again. We packed them in garment bags and brought them to the appointment. It made it feel just as special without the price tag.
Once the makeover is done, lean into the magic! Here’s how we made the day even more memorable:
Before we went, I honestly thought Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique might be overhyped. But now? I’d do it again in a heartbeat. The look on my kids’ faces, the way they carried themselves all day, and the photos we’ll treasure forever made it totally worth it to do at least once.
If you’re willing to plan ahead and make a few smart budget choices, this experience can fit into even a big family’s Disney trip—and become one of the most unforgettable memories of the whole vacation.
